US Employment Cost Index q/q, civilian workers के लिए employers की hourly labour costs में seasonally adjusted quarterly change है। Bureau of Labor Statistics wages और salaries तथा employer benefit costs दोनों मापता है। Average earnings के विपरीत ECI fixed employment structure का उपयोग करता है, ताकि high- और low-paid occupations या industries के बीच shifts measured change पर हावी न हों। इसलिए यह underlying compensation pressure का closely watched indicator है।
